Day Trip on the Lower Colorado
The Lower Colorado below Austin is a true urban getaway. Lush and teeming with wildlife, the river is wide and mellow. There are no major rapids or obstacles, which makes it the perfect spot for first-timers and families, and consistent releases from Longhorn Dam give the river enough flow for year-round recreation.
We love the Lower Colorado because of its proximity to Austin, its family-friendly nature and great fishing. It is the perfect place to escape the big city for a day, and we think you'll love it too.
We offer guided day trips on the Lower Colorado, focusing primarily on a few stretches of river between Austin and Bastrop. On these trips, we will cover a distance of roughly 4-6 river miles in approximately 5-7 hours.
Because these trips are all-inclusive, we provide lunch, along with all of the necessary gear, including: boats, life jackets, paddles and dry bags. Visit our FAQ page to see our list of recommended river essentials, along with answers to other frequently asked questions.
